DRAGONFLY 2

Accessibility

We want to ensure all guests who visit Brighton Palace Pier can enjoy a fun, safe and enjoyable day. We work incredibly hard to meet the needs of all our visitors, which includes providing the best facilities and systems we can for those who need additional support. Please see below for all of our current accessibility information.

If you have any further questions, please contact our team who will be delighted to help you.

Accessibility Information

Brighton Palace Pier is fully accessible by wheelchair, mobility scooter and most regular sized mobility aids. There are no steps to ascend in order to enter the pier and all of our buildings are accessible via flat surface or ramps.

Due to the age and nature of our Grade II* Listed structure, it is worth noting that there are some areas of the pier that will appear uneven, or bumpy.

The nearest parking is located on Madeira Drive and is operated by Brighton & Hove City Council. There is also a drop-off bay directly opposite the pier entrance.

Brighton Palace Pier has 3 accessible toilets that include changing facilities. They are located in the Palace of Fun Arcade, Palm Court Restaurant and adjacent to the men's public toilet in the rides area. Baby changing facilities are also available in all of our public toilets.

Please note that there is no accessible toilet in Horatio's Bar however the facility in the rides area is approximately 40 meters from the bar entrance.

We work very hard to ensure all of our rides are as accessible as possible and to ensure visitors enjoy them safely. Despite this, some of our rides are very physically demanding and vigorous ehivh means we have to consider your ability to appropriately fit ride restraints, effectively brace against ride forces and if you would be able to evacuate the ride quickly and safely in the unlikely event of an emergency. These decisions are always based on guidance from the ride manufacturer and the latest, relevant guidance from the HSE which means we have no discretion in these decisions.

Brighton Palace Pier therefore reserves the right to refuse admission to any ride should we feel that there is an unacceptable risk to your safety or the safety of others. The decision to deny admission to one of our rides will only ever be made in the interest of health and safety.

Refusing admisison to rides on the grounds of health and safety is not discrimininatory in the eyes of the Equality Act 2010 and this view is also endorsed by the HSE.

For more detail on the individual restrictions of each ride, please consult the Rides & Attractions page and read the information for each ride you wish to enjoy.

For a full guide on ride accessibility for various impairments and conditions, please see our guide here.

Please see below for further information about complimentary wristbands for carers.

All assistance dogs are welcome on Brighton Palace Pier. Dogs are not permitted to accompany guests on any of our rides and must be left with a member of the guest's party. Dogs must not be left unattended or tethered anywhere on the pier and our staff are not permitted to look after any assitance dogs.

Brighton Palace Pier works hard to ensure that we can cater for all of our visitors. At each catering unit, allergen guides and nutritional information will be available upon request from a member of staff. If eating in our restaurant or bar, please make your allergies or intolerances known to your server when placing your order.

Carer's Wristbands & Rides Tickets FAQs

When a wristband or ride ticket is purchased for a disabled person and proof of disability is accepted, you will be issued with a RED wristband which must be worn by the carer and a GREEN wristband, called a 'Rides Access Pass'. which must be worn by the person with the disability. The wristband will be stamped with the date of the day of visit and only valid on that day.

If a Rides Access Pass is issued, the carer must accompany the disabled person on all rides. Ride attendants will not admit the wearer of the GREEN wristband without the accompanying RED wristband.

If a carer deems that the disabled person is able to go on the rides on their own, and we agree, then no Rides Access Pass will be issued and instead our standard Supersaver Wristband will be given to the disabled person.

The carers wristband will allow the carer to accompany the disabled person for free, without the need for their own wristband or ride ticket.

When going on a ride, both the carer and the disabled person will need to show the valid wristband to the ride attendant who will then grant admission as long as the disabled person is deemed safe to ride the particular ride you are trying to use.

Please note that neither wristbands can be shared. The staff at the ticket kiosk will put the correct wristband on the carer to ensure it is going to the right person. Sharing the wristbands could potentially lead to the wristbands being confiscated with no refunds being given.

In order to get the complimentary wristband, we will need to see one of the following proofs of disability:

  • Disability Living Allowance letter (dated within the last 12 months)
  • Personal Independence Payment letter (dated within the last 12 months)
  • Valid Access Card
  • Visual Impairment Registration Card
  • Valid Carer ID
  • A letter from GP/consultant confirming the need for a full-time carer (dated within the last 12 months)

We provide one free carer's wristband to accompany the disabled guest, unless you can provide proof that multiple carers are required.

Not at this time, no. However, if you wish to take advantage of the discounted online price of the Supersaver Wristband, you can book a single wristband for the disabled person online and then, by bringing proof of disability, can claim your carers wristband when picking up your online order.

Wristbands can be booked online here!
