Brighton Palace Pier to Reintroduce Admission Charge in 2026
4th Mar 2026
As we enter the main season of 2026, Brighton Palace Pier can confirm it is reintroducing the admission fee for the peak periods, returning at a price of £1 per guest (over the age of 2 years old) for the pre-summer period.
As it has been previously, anyone living within any BN postcode can get free entry by obtaining their free Local Resident's Card, entitling the card holder and up to three guests free admission and access to exclusive offers throughout the year.
We remain committed to preserving this iconic part of British heritage and working hard to keep our Grade II* Listed structure standing for generations to come.
WHY DID WE INTRODUCED AN ADMISSION FEE?
Brighton Palace Pier re-introduced the admission fee, previously removed in 1985, due to rising costs in maintaining, repairing and operating the pier. As we are a Grade II* Listed structure, we are guardians of our iconic pier and therefore need to make sure the best quality steelwork and repairs can be delivered so that the pier remains standing for generations to come.
As a private company, we do not receive any kind of grants to assist with the cost of maintenance and therefore we absorb the cost to complete these repairs ourselves.
Over the last 5 years, the cost of maintaining the pier has increased by a third and therefore the seasonal admission fee is critical in helping to meet the unique challenges and costs of preserving the pier's structural integrity.
WHO DOESN'T HAVE TO PAY?
The following groups of people get free admission on days we are charging.
- Those with Local Resident Cards
- Those with pre-booked Rides Wristbands
- Those with Rides Annual Passes
As well as this, the admission charge only runs through our peak season and at peak times. We only charge admission from March to October. We also stop charging once certain areas of the pier, such as rides, kiosks or restaurant, begin closing for the evening but this time is subject to change.
