Surrounded by free chocolate and sweets, one man joked to me last night that he was “in hell”- he was diabetic. For the rest at the Willy-Wonka-style Choccywoccydoodah party, it was a chocoholic’s dream.

There were fortune tellers, drag artist doormen, elaborate centrepiece cakes, chocolate-clad waitresses and of course, more sugar than any one person could ever handle alone (although that sounds like a challenge, right? One that you could take any day at the pier’s “Sweet Experience” booth!)

Anneka Rice, Simon Fanshawe and Katie Derham were also amongst the crowd as a live band played on stage, interviews took place in Horatio’s sunny beer garden and The Good Food Channel filmed for Choccy’s  TV launch party.

It was great meeting everyone last night (Did the chocolate shoe make it back to London ok, Lia?! And how accurate was that fortune teller, Kate?!) Check out our Photo Albums and Facebook page for the party pics and to tag yourself. We’ll see you all at our next extravagant event!

If you fancy hosting a unique event on the pier (or even a slightly more subdued private party!) for yourself or a company then just send us an email at and we’d love to help organise another great party on the pier.

Next week we’ve got private parties on the pier for the Sussex and Brighton freshers... AND CALLING ALL STUDENTS: The pier is actually planning an Oktoberfest of pub quizzes every Thursday night in October so let me know on our official Facebook and Twitter pages if you’re interested and I’ll give you all more details soon.

There’s sunny weather planned for a seaside pier stroll tomorrow so I’ll see you guys then!
